Voice Actors of Chicago is a group dedicated to building a supportive community of Chicago Area voice actors and narrators. This is a welcoming space where we ask questions, share our goals, offer resources, celebrate each others wins, and support each other's struggles. Most importantly, it's where we plan and share our in-person meetups and other VAChi events.

Have you ever wondered which microphone would really make your voice shine? Or dreamed about getting behind the mic in one of Chicago’s top recording studios? Here’s your chance! Voice Actors of Chicago is hosting a one-of-a-kind Mic Shootout at Narwhal Studios, on Friday, August 28th from 5:45-9:00PM.

This event includes three hours of hands-on studio time, with a professional audio engineer. You’ll have the opportunity to record a single piece of copy into a bunch of different mics, and then listen back in the control room and compare how each one shapes your unique sound. Bring your own mic if you’d like to see how it stacks up, or just bring yourself and try out what the studio has to offer. After the main event, feel free to stick around and enjoy some drinks and snacks with your fellow VAs!

Whether you’re thinking about a gear upgrade, wondering if you can actually hear thousands of dollars’ worth of difference between an entry level vs. top tier microphone, want to improve your understanding of audio in general, or are simply looking for an excuse to hang with some awesome voice actors, this is the event for you. 

*Studio time begins at 6pm sharp. Please try to arrive on time so that we can go over procedures all together and get the most out of our time with the engineer.
